Carrie Coe is a textile artist originally from Virginia who lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently a faculty associate teaching in the Fibers Department at ASU’s School of Art. Carrie earned her BFA in Fibers from Arizona State University. She also holds a BS degree in Clothing and Textiles with a focus in apparel design as well as a MBA. Living in the southwest, a region rich in Native American art, Carrie was drawn to Navajo weavings and the process for extracting colors from the landscape to dye yarn used to make the weaving. This influence attracted Carrie to explore natural dyeing and to use the earth’s colors to create unique textiles and weavings.
